ORIGINAL DEED OF MORH KFARSGHAB

(WINTER VILLAGE) DATED 1745



This historical document was unexpectedly found March 7, 1981 among the papers of Sheik Antonios Stephan 1856-1898 and now is being shown for the first time to the public.


The deed to Morh Kfarsghab (Winter village).

The seller is: Assad Hamadeh (the Hammadehs, Shiite Moslems, ruled North Lebanon, in the 17th Century).

The Buyer is: Abou Youssef Elias, founder of the Sheikdom of Kfarsghab.

The price is: 10 Turkish Piasters. Equivalent to $6.20 today. The seller retained rights to any manure produced by the goats.
